MadFUT Alternative — Free Draft Game, No Packs
MadFUT scratches a very specific itch: the squad-building rush of Ultimate Team without EA’s price tag. If you’re looking for the next thing after it — something with real opponents, no pack-opening grind, and no dependency on this season’s ratings — Vikto is built for exactly that. Free, browser-based, and every card is an all-time legend.
Why look past MadFUT?
MadFUT-style apps are pack simulators first. You open packs, you trade, you build a squad, and the loop is essentially you against a random number generator. It’s satisfying for a while, and then the ceiling shows up: the drops are the game, and there’s no opponent on the other side making decisions.
The other issue is churn. Anything built on current Ultimate Team ratings resets every year. The squad you spent weeks assembling stops mattering in September, and the card that felt like a jackpot becomes a common the moment the new edition lands.
Vikto removes both problems. There are no packs to open — every legend in a club’s pool is available in every match. And the roster is historical, so Thierry Henry at his Highbury peak doesn’t get downgraded because of a new season.
How does Vikto compare?
| Feature | MadFUT-style apps | Vikto |
|---|---|---|
| Core loop | Open packs, build squads | Blind auctions vs a real opponent |
| Opponent | Mostly solo / simulated | Real player, head-to-head |
| Cost | Free with in-app purchases | Free, no purchases |
| Player pool | Current-season ratings | All-time legends, by position |
| Yearly reset | Yes, every edition | No, ratings are historical |
| Trading market | Yes | No resale, no market |
| Platform | Mobile app | Any browser, no download |
| Match length | Instant packs | 5 minutes to 24 hours |
The honest trade-off: if what you love about MadFUT is the dopamine of opening a pack, Vikto won’t replicate that — deliberately. There is no randomised pack mechanic anywhere in the game. What Vikto gives you instead is a real opponent whose decisions you have to read.

How does a match work?
You pick a club or national team and a position — attackers, midfielders or defenders. Six legends from that pool are drawn, and before anything is bid you see all six laid out with their scores hidden. Then they shuffle: you know exactly who is in the deck, and nothing about the order.
Each card goes to a blind auction, its score revealed the moment it comes up. You both bid from the same $250M, the minimum is $1M, and passing isn’t allowed. Neither of you sees the other’s number until you’ve both locked in — then bids reveal together and the higher one takes the legend. Equal bids are settled by a server coin flip.
The rule that shapes everything: as soon as one player has three cards, every remaining card goes to the opponent automatically. Overspending early doesn’t just drain your budget, it hands them the rest of the deck.
How is it decided?
Before the duels you name a captain — one of your three cards, +10% on its score. Then both squads are ranked by score and duelled off: your best card against their best, second against second, third against third.
The boosts land at resolution. A legend whose decade matches the match era gets +10%, or +15% if they’re an Icon, and a legend who fits the venue gets the same treatment. Win two duels out of three and you win the match — the total across your three cards decides nothing. If it’s 1–1 and the third duel ends level, the player with the smaller remaining budget takes it.
Are the cards real legends?
Every pool is curated by hand, 36 legends per team, three positions of twelve. Arsenal runs through Henry, Bergkamp, Vieira, Pirès and Tony Adams. Real Madrid has Zidane, Ronaldo R9, Raúl and Roberto Carlos. Barcelona has Messi, Cruyff, Ronaldinho and Xavi. Marseille honours Papin, Boli and Deschamps.
Each legend carries a base score built from three things: honours won, position-normalised impact, and how far their name travels outside their own club’s support. Boosts then decide duels at the margins — era, venue and captain each add 10 or 15% — which is why an 88 in the right match beats a 92 in the wrong one.
A handful of legends are Icons — the players who’d make an all-time world XI, not just a club one. Icons get a base-score boost and gold styling, and community votes decide who earns the status.
What actually wins matches?
Not buying the best card. Three things beat that, and they’re all cheap.
The first is the three-card rule. You need exactly three legends and so does your opponent — so the moment either of you completes a squad, the remaining cards are handed over for free. Blowing $150M on the opening lot regularly means paying full price for a squad your opponent gets half of for nothing.
The second is era. Every match is set in a decade, and a legend whose career sits in that decade scores 10% more, 15% if they’re an Icon. A 1990s sweeper in a 1990s match is worth more than a higher-rated name from the wrong era, and the card that looks like the obvious buy often isn’t.
The third is information. Each match carries one rumour pointing at the era or the venue, and you can pay to verify it. Spending $20M to know the era before the big cards appear is frequently a better investment than $20M on a bid.
Is there long-term progression?
Yes, without a market attached to it. The legends you draft stay in your collection between matches, and you can bring them back as jokers later at a coin cost. What you can’t do is sell them to another player — there’s no resale, no trading economy, and no way to buy a stronger squad. Two accounts of the same age have exactly the same tools.
That’s the deliberate line between Vikto and the FUT-derived apps. Progression exists to give your history weight, not to create a market where the player who spends most wins most.

Can I play against friends?
Every match generates a shareable link. Send it, they open it in a browser, the game starts — no account juggling, no app store detour. Turns run async with a 24-hour window, so you can play three or four matches at once with different people and answer each when you have a minute.
If you’d rather be matched with a stranger, that works too. Same rules either way.
Frequently asked questions
Is Vikto free like MadFUT?
Yes, and further: there are no in-app purchases in the core game, no packs, and no premium tier that makes you stronger.
Does Vikto have pack opening?
No. Randomised packs aren’t part of the design. Every legend in a club’s pool can appear in any match, and you win them by outbidding your opponent.
Are the players current or retired?
Historical. The pools are all-time legends, so ratings don’t reset with a new season the way Ultimate Team ratings do.
Can I trade cards with other players?
No. Cards stay in your collection and can’t be sold or transferred, which keeps squads from being bought.
Do I need to download anything?
No. Vikto runs in any mobile or desktop browser.
What if I liked Pacybits?
The appeal there was fast squad building without EA’s economy. Vikto keeps the speed and drops the economy entirely — the difference is you’re building against a person instead of a generator.
