Asynchronous Football Game — Play On Your Own Schedule
Vikto is an asynchronous football game where you and your opponent take turns at your own pace — much like Ruzzle, Words With Friends, or Chess.com correspondence games. You play when you have a moment, your opponent plays when they have a moment, and a full match unfolds over minutes or hours depending on how active you both are.
For anyone who’s wanted to enjoy football strategy without committing 45 minutes in one sitting, this is the format that finally makes sense.
Why does asynchronous gameplay matter for football games?
Most football games demand real-time presence. You boot up FIFA, you commit to a 30-minute match. You open a mobile game, you sit through the loading screens and ads, then you play a single round before being prompted to upgrade. The whole thing assumes you have uninterrupted attention.
Adults rarely do. You might have five minutes in the morning, ten minutes at lunch, fifteen minutes before bed. Async gameplay turns those scattered moments into a full game. You drop a bid on Zidane during your coffee break. Your opponent responds while waiting for the bus. By the end of the day, you’ve played a complete match without ever scheduling time for it.
This is exactly what made Ruzzle and Words With Friends massive. The mechanic just hadn’t been applied to football before.

How does Vikto handle asynchronous turns?
Each card in a Vikto match is its own turn. You see the legend that’s up for bid, you decide your offer, you submit it. The card is now waiting for your opponent’s bid. They have up to 24 hours to respond. When both bids are in, the reveal happens automatically and you both get notified.
You can have multiple matches running at the same time. Most active players juggle 3 to 5 matches simultaneously — one with a friend, one against a random opponent, one tournament match. Notifications tell you when it’s your turn.
Live mode also exists. If both players happen to be online at the same time, the game flows in real-time. You don’t have to choose between formats — the same match supports both.
Is async too slow for competitive play?
Not at all. The asynchronous nature creates a different kind of tension. You have time to think about your bid, to anticipate what your opponent might do, to second-guess yourself. The five-second adrenaline rush of a real-time bid is traded for a slow-burn psychological game that’s arguably more interesting.
A common observation across casual gaming communities is that async games tend to retain players better than real-time equivalents because they fit around real life rather than competing with it. You don’t have to choose between Vikto and your evening plans — it just lives in the background.
What if my opponent never plays their turn?
If a player doesn’t move within 24 hours, the match auto-resolves in favor of the active player. So you can’t be stuck waiting indefinitely. Most players actually play much faster than that — average response time is under an hour because notifications make returning to the app frictionless.
Can I still play live if I want to?
Yes. When both players are active at the same time, Vikto naturally becomes a live game. The same match can switch between live and async depending on who’s online. You can also explicitly invite a friend to a live match via a shared link — perfect for a quick session during a real football game halftime.

How does the gameplay itself work?
Pick a club or national team. Six legend cards appear one by one. You and your opponent bid blind on each — you don’t see their bid until both are locked in. Each player has $250M to spread across the six cards. After three legend drafts, the duels begin. Attacker faces attacker, midfielder faces midfielder, defender faces defender. Best of three duels wins.
The async format works for every part of this loop. Bid now. Get notified when your opponent bids. See the reveal. Move on. Come back later for the next card.
