2 Player Football Games — Free, Play With Friends
The problem with most “play with friends” football games is the setup. Everyone downloads something, someone’s on the wrong platform, two people make accounts and the third gives up. Vikto is a link. You send it, they open it in a browser, and you’re bidding against each other inside a minute — free, two players, no install.
What makes it work?
Three things, and almost nothing else.
It has to start instantly, because every extra step loses someone. It has to work when you’re not both free at the same time, because you’re adults with jobs. And it has to be decided by a decision, not by reflexes — if one of you is better at tapping a screen, the other stops playing.
Vikto was built to that list: a shareable link, a 24-hour turn window, and a game where the only input is a number you choose.
How do you start?
Pick a club or national team, choose a position — attackers, midfielders or defenders — create the match and send the link. Your friend opens it and joins; a guest can play without making an account and convert to a real one later without losing anything.
From there, six legends from that pool are drawn. You both see all six before the first auction with their scores hidden, then they shuffle: you know who’s coming, not in what order.

How does the bidding work?
Every card goes to a blind auction. You each have $250M for the whole match, the minimum bid is $1M, and passing isn’t allowed. You both enter a number, nothing is revealed until you’ve both locked in, then the bids show together and the higher one takes the legend. Equal bids are settled by a server coin flip. And the moment one of you has three cards, the rest of the deck goes to the other automatically.
That simultaneity is what makes it good with someone you know. You’re not playing the cards, you’re playing them — how much do they rate this legend, are they the type to blow half the budget on the first big name that appears, do they even remember who this guy was?
How is the winner decided?
Before the duels you name a captain — one of your three cards, +10% on its score. Then both squads are ranked by score and duelled off: your best card against their best, second against second, third against third.
The boosts land at resolution. A legend whose decade matches the match era gets +10%, or +15% if they’re an Icon, and a legend who fits the venue gets the same treatment. Win two duels out of three and you win the match — the total across your three cards decides nothing. If it’s 1–1 and the third duel ends level, the player with the smaller remaining budget takes it.
Which team should you pick?
Pick the one you’ll both argue about. A club you support gives you an edge on the deep cuts; a club neither of you follows makes it a fairer fight. Clubs available: Arsenal, Barcelona, Real Madrid, Manchester United, PSG, Marseille and Western Sydney Wanderers, plus France, Brazil, England and Germany.
Position matters as much as club. Attackers are the loud match — everyone has an opinion on strikers, and the bidding runs hot. Defenders are the interesting one, because valuations diverge much more: the friend who can tell you who marked whom in a 1994 final has a genuine advantage there.
Can we play async?
That’s the default. Turns are async with a 24-hour window, and you get notified when your friend has played. Run four matches at once against four different people and answer each when you have a minute in a queue somewhere.
If neither of you moves for a full day, only the current card is forfeited to the other player — the match keeps going.

What if we’re both online?
Then it’s five minutes. Bids resolve as soon as you’ve both locked in, so a match played live moves at the pace of the slower typist. It’s a good filler between two things, and good across a table in a pub — you’re arguing about whether Bergkamp is worth $70M while the auction is still open.
Frequently asked questions
Do we both need an account?
No. One of you creates the match and the other can join as a guest from the link, then convert to a full account later if they want their collection kept.
Is it really free?
Yes. No purchases, no packs, no premium tier.
Does it work on phones?
Yes — any mobile or desktop browser, no download.
What are the best 2 player football games?
The ones that start from a link and are decided by a decision rather than reflexes. Vikto is a blind auction for all-time legends: two players, one budget each, three duels.
Can more than two people play?
A match is 1v1. You can run several matches at once against different friends, which is how most groups use it.
What if my friend doesn’t know old footballers?
Card scores are visible during the auction, so nobody bids blind. Knowing the legends is an advantage, not a requirement.
How long does a match take?
Five minutes live, or up to a couple of days async with the 24-hour turn window.
