Why Del Piero leads
Longevity plus loyalty plus the numbers. Nineteen seasons, 705 appearances, 290 goals, six league titles and a Champions League — and then a season in Serie B when leaving was the obvious move and everyone else took it.
Platini’s five years are the higher peak by some distance: three straight Ballons d’Or, a European Cup, and the tournament that still defines European Championship attacking play. His France card is a 95, Icon tier, which tells you where a Juventus version would land.
Scirea at three is the pick that separates people who watched from people who read. A sweeper who won every trophy available to a club footballer and was never once sent off — the defensive equivalent of Del Piero’s case, built on decades rather than moments.

Who would be Icons?
Platini certainly, since he already carries Icon status on his France card. Del Piero would be the club’s own candidate, and the vote would be closer than Turin expects — Icon tier is about recognition beyond the club, and Platini’s travels further.
Zidane’s Juventus card would be a strange one. Five years, two league titles, and the period where he became the best midfielder alive without winning the Champions League — a high Legend rather than the 97 his France card carries.
Scirea and Baggio would both land in the low 90s, with Baggio’s the rating most likely to be argued about, since his best individual season came in the shirt Juventus fans least like remembering.
Where the pool runs deep
Defence, and in a way no other pool would match. Scirea, Chiellini, Bonucci, Barzagli, Cabrini, Gentile, Ferrara and Thuram — a deck where every card can defend and the drop-off between first and sixth is smaller than anywhere in the game.
That flatness is the interesting part for a match. When the gap between the best and the fourth-best defender is three or four points, paying double for the top card is a clear mistake — and since the moment you own three cards the rest of the deck goes to your opponent, the disciplined bidder usually leaves with the better squad.
